NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana was born in Eagle, Pennsylvania on June 11, 1956. In 1977 Montana led the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame to their twelfth of thirteen national football championships by pasting Texas 38-10 in the Cotton Bowl played on New Year’s Day 1978.

The San Francisco 49ers no doubt bet for his future greatness when they picked Montana in the third round of the 1979 NFL Entry Draft. The 49ers brass did not have long to wait for the first step on Joe’s path to greatness to be taken. On January 10th, 1982, Montana threw a six yard touchdown pass to tight end Dwight Clark with 51 seconds left in the NFC Championship Game to beat the Dallas Cowboys 28-27. This come-from-behind win was one of 31 such wins in his outstanding career.

His astonishing late-game ability to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat seemed to happen with such regularity that it became known as “Montana Magic.” Arguably, the most memorable moment of “Montana Magic” occurred in Super Bowl XXIII when he concluded a 92-yard game winning drive by throwing a 10-yard touchdown pass to John Taylor with 34 seconds left.

In his outstanding career with the 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, Joe Montana amassed the stats and honors that cemented his entrance into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2000. He won the NFL passing title in 1987 and 1989 and led the NFC in passing in 1981, 1984, 1985, 1987, and 1989. He passed for 300 yards in a game 39 times; in seven of those 39 games he passed for more than 400 yards.

Montana’s other honors and achievements include:

A post-season record six 300-yard passing performances.

Holding the career playoff record for attempts, completions, touchdowns and passing yards.

Four Super Bowl titles and three Super Bowl MVPs.

Eleven playoff appearances and nine division titles.

Three All-NFL and five All-NFC honors.

Eight Pro Bowl Selections.

40,551 career passing yards.

5,391 career attempts.

3,409 career completions.

273 passing touchdowns.

A career passer rating of 92.3

Joe Montana is a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer.

Physiotherapy involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a range of diseases, disorders, and disabilities using physical means. Practiced by physiotherapists it is within the realm of conventional medicine.

Physiotherapy is thought to date back to the ancient Greek times of Hippocrates. In 460 BC, Hector practiced a physiotherapy technique called hydrotherapy, this is the Greek for water treatment. Indeed Hydrotherapy is still used by Physiotherapists and many medical professionals today.

Sweden recognised Physiotherapy as a medical profession in 1813 and from there Physiotherapy reached England New Zealand and the USA where simple forms of treatment were practiced, in hydrotherapy, massage and traction.

Physiotherapy continued to develop further and during the 1980′s. Technology added another option and point of change in physiotherapy and while taking a lead in the early days the profession has now adopted to lead with manual therapy, manipulation and exercise therapy in today’s treatments.

Today’s physiotherapists work in hospitals, clinics nursing homes rehab facilities and are involved in all aspects of healthcare applying their skills as manual therapists.

Because the scope of the physiotherapy profession is so broad and varied, many Chartered Physiotherapists choose to specialise in one or two particular fields. However, Chartered Physiotherapists are all dedicated to the same goals:

To help people achieve their full potential following injury, pain or disability

To provide a health service that is accessible, effective and humanitarian

To continue to undertake scientific research and training to improve our service

To provide a service that is based on high standards of care and practic

There is not just one way to trace Irish ancestry. As with any research, it is a kind of detective work and the more useful information, the better. There are many means of gathering the information that will tell you about your Irish forbears. In the past, someone seeking information on their ancestry would spend a lot of time in libraries and various registries and record offices looking at books, archived birth and death registers, microfilm, census information, and legal documents.

In our modern age, the internet has made the ancestry tracing process a lot easier. But either way, the basic approach to tracing Irish ancestry or any ancestry remains the same – it is simply to gather information from a variety of sources and assemble it as coherently as possible. This article will point you in the right direction.

Begin with what you already know

Write down your family name and any related names of grandparents, aunts, and uncles, cousins, and so on. Begin to construct a family tree. You can draw or type this out to show the branchings of your immediate and extended family. You can also interview existing grandparents and other family members and get a lot of information that way. Ask them to show you pictures, letters, or other documents – these may also contain valuable information, some of it that people have forgotten over the years.

Proceed further back in time

Once you have all the information you can get from family members put together in some kind of readable form, you can begin to set up a progression back in time. You’ll already have started this with your family tree. Now begin to take it further back, documenting as many branches as you can. This will involve research and access to outside sources to fill in the picture and extend it back earlier and earlier. These are shown in some general categories below. But realize that there are potentially even more information sources and websites than the ones listed here. Any and all reliable information can help. But these sites will get you far, maybe even as far as you need to go.

Check General Information Websites

Some people might say to start your Irish ancestry research at the local library, but in fact the internet is a better choice as a starting point because there is a lot of quick information available right away. This may lead you to written histories or other information at the library, but it is best to start with the web to get going.

The House of Names

http://www.houseofnames.com/

This web site allows you to enter any surname (last name) and get a brief description of the name’s derivation. This is good for getting an overall sense of where your ancestors in the larger sense (anybody that shares your family name) originated.
Look for other similar websites that give general overviews of this type if you wish.

Check Records Websites

This is the larger category. It’s the digital age, and what was once only locked away in dusty file cabinets in foreign countries is now often available online. The following sites are source material sites. They are, or have, databases of actual records of various sorts that were made of specific people. This is the kind of focused information you are looking for.

Ellis Island Website

http://www.ellisisland.org/

Lists U.S. immigrants from 1890 to 1924. Do a search on your name or related family names.

Irish Family History Foundation Website

http://ifhf.brsgenealogy.com/

Large searchable database of genealogical information, parish records, and so on. This foundation appears to be some kind of coordinating body for a number of different genealogical research organizations in Ireland, so it is comprehensive.

General Register Office of Ireland

http://www.groireland.ie/

General Register Office of Northern Ireland

http://www.groni.gov.uk/

Public Records Office of Northern Ireland

http://www.proni.gov.uk/

National Archives of Ireland

http://www.nationalarchives.ie/aboutus/index.html

Irish Census Records

http://www.censusfinder.com/ireland.htm

All of these above sites can provide you with a wealth of records information. They generally have searchable databases and many other perks to help you in your genealogical research.

Consider genealogy services

There are services that will do genealogical research for a fee. So if you feel that you are running into dead ends you can’t resolve by yourself, or just don’t have the time to do extensive research, consider using these services. Here are a couple, but a simple internet search will likely uncover more:

Records Ireland

http://www.recordsireland.com/?hop=shabogesic

Ulster Ancestry

http://www.ulsterancestry.com/?hop=shabogesic

Libraries – Written Histories

You may get lucky and find actual written histories, often in book form, about your family. Libraries can help you here. If in the research process you find such a book, go to your local library and request they order it for you.

Travel to Ireland

Doing genealogy research is a great reason to take a cool trip. So if you’d rather really get close to the research into your forbears, consider hopping on a plane to Ireland and looking around. You can visit locations that came up in your research and go to records offices to view paper or microfilm documents. You can even talk to locals at the pub over a pint and may find extended family you never knew about.

By the time you’ve finished with all this research, your progression back in time be quite extensive. You’ll probably also have made some friends and met some extended family for the first time along the way. Consider assembling all the genealogical information in a good looking tome or printout, and even adding pictures if you like. These could also make great presents to members of your family for Christmas or birthdays.

An Unforgettable Trip, that’s Ireland

The idea of a road trip in a foreign country might seem overwhelming. In many countries, it may prove a confusing or even dangerous experience. But traveling by car in the beautiful country of Ireland is an exception to this rule! Traveling through the weathered countryside of Ireland is not as hard as you might think. Here are some considerations and suggestions for a self drive vacation through the country of Ireland.

Renting a car is affordable in Ireland, and since the country is smaller than many states in America, you can see most of it in a week’s visit. Take some time to learn how to drive on the opposite side of the road and handle roundabout intersections before venturing into busier areas. Since there are often no street signs in the rural parts of the country, plan your route carefully and make sure you fill up before heading out.

While having your Ireland vacation there is a lot to see in this historically-rich country. Visit many of the historic Castles to enjoy the amazing architecture and a glimpse into life of the middle ages in Ireland. Museums chronicle the nation’s turbulent past and rich culture. Many also enjoy visiting the Dublin Castle where the Chester Beatty collection of ancient bible manuscripts can be viewed. Historical and educational content is rich in Ireland.

The larger cities also offer a lot to see and do. Be sure to make time to visit an authentic Irish pub and enjoy a pint of their signature Guinness beer. You may be surprised at how different it tastes in its country of origin! Real fans of the brew may also enjoy a visit to the Guinness brewery in Dublin to hear the 200 year history of the famous drink.

With all the cultural attractions, don’t forget to enjoy some of the incredible natural spectacles to be found in Ireland. Giant’s Causeway – a natural formation of rocks caused by the Ocean’s erosion – is unlike any shorefront you have ever seen. If the beautiful and breath-taking cliffs of Moher look familiar to you, it is probably because you have seen this place in popular movies such as “The Princess Bride” and “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”. No trip to Ireland is complete traveling through the solitary roads in the country’s mountainous center. You will find the roads are surprisingly safe even in the uninhabited parts of this green wonderland.

Ireland is an excellent stepping stone into getting comfortable driving in European countries. Take some precautions and plan your routes and you will be sure to enjoy all this amazing country has to offer.

When you need extra room for storage, a self storage facility might be the right answer. People use self storage units when they move or to hold items that just will not fit in their current living quarters. Offices use self storage to hold old records and files. For others, the storage unit serves as an extra room or garage space to hold vehicles, tools or other equipment. Some businesses run parts of their business operations in a storage unit during open hours. Whatever the purpose, there are a few things to consider when you want to use a self storage unit.

• Do you need indoor, temperature or climate control?

• How close is the unit to your home or office?

• How much space do you need right now, and in the future?

• How secure is the storage facility?

• Is the area paved and clean? Pavement keeps down dust and dirt.

These are the basic questions to answer first. Once you have selected a self storage unit, you want to inspect it for leaks, structural integrity and security from animals and pests. Water and humidity damage can do the most harm; bugs, mice, rats and other pests are also problematic. If there is no pest control, you want to put down your own before loading up the unit.

Security is important; be sure there is 24/7 locking, lighting, video surveillance and on-site attendants. The gates should be always closed and locked, not left open. Get a good lock for your storage unit. Look for any water marks or stains on the floor and ceiling. If there is a problem, ask for a different unit.

Pack your unit full to get the most storage space. Use waterproof containers like rubber tubs with covers on the bottom level. Make sure the heavy items are on the bottom. Seal all cardboard boxes to help keep out bugs, dust and dirt. Use adequate protective packing, like bubble wrap, on fragile items. Do not pack large boxes with heavy items; use smaller boxes you can lift. Label the outside of every box with a code or contents. Keep a separate list, and mark boxes with numbers. This makes retrieval of items easier.

Pack things you need access to in the front of the storage shed. Do not lean heavy items against walls. Stand mattresses and sofas on end. Use blankets or pads between furniture that might scratch, like table tops. Put large and heavy items in the back or along the side walls. Use furniture drawers and insides of appliances for storage. Dismantle furniture but keep parts together. Never store flammables in your storage shed. Finally, pay your bill on time.
