How Many Games in a Major League Baseball Season?

Baseball certainly has one of the longest seasons in sports and this is mainly because the sport is not too taxing on the body. There are so many games in a season that sometimes baseball fans become a little bored and would rather watch other sports while the season goes on, that is where betting lines come in and keep some more interest in the games. The season inevitably ends up in the same position and many fans have wondered why not cut down the 162 game season into at least just one hundred. The amount of games simply minimizes the importance of every other game and it seems like sports like basketball and football have been able to perfect the art of picking the number of games. An 82 game season is arguably enough games to keep fans excited every night but not too long to where one single game does not matter anymore.

This is arguably what happened to the game of baseball as the importance of one game simply disappeared and it seems like people just skip the regular season and wait until the action starts to heat up in August or September. Though there are still die hard fans who watch every single game, it seems like there really is nothing better than waiting once a week for a big football game or a basketball game at least 3 times a week. Baseball games are actually almost every night during the season and they rarely ever take a break. Is this really a good way to market the sport? Though baseball enthusiasts say that it is a great way to make money for teams and a great way to see teams grow, don’t you think 162 games is a little too long to watch them grow as a team?

I believe that a 100 game season would hit the spot right and be a perfect median for fans and owners. This would mean about 1 game every 3 days and the players will be able to rest and actually have lives. These players work and train every day of their lives and they usually will have no time for their families. This is arguably what happens to all the players and sadly a lot of them go through divorces. What do you think about the season and how long do you believe the season should be? Do you watch every game of the season or do you just watch the playoffs?
